Dental Health = General Health.

People often look at their overall health separately from their dental health.  We know that they are both vital to our long-term lifestyle, but many people are not aware that poor dental hygiene can and often DOES affect one’s general health.  Cosmetically, no one wants to hide their smile.  That is obvious, but when it literally can end up resulting in life or death now that’s an attention getter!

Are you aware that poor dental care often translates into cardiovascular disease?  When bacteria builds and builds in your mouth the next place it may go is into your blood stream.  When it continues to travel it can literally result in hardening of the arteries.  Diabetes may also worsen because blood sugar levels go haywire.

None of this is meant to scare you, but we hope that it serves as a wake-up call for 2017.  If you have neglected your teeth for a period of time it is not too late to save that smile…and eventually maybe your life.  It begins with an appointment at the office of Dr. David Blackman.  Schedule a check-up and cleaning today by calling his office located at 400 N. Gary Ave. in Carol Stream at (630) 260-1700.
